![]() Bio: Leandro Rumel Mount Royal College Business and Entrepreneurial Studies Calgary Office: Sales Manager Q. What steps did you take to receive credit and what type of credit did you receive? A. There is a coop/practicum requirement as part of my degree in entrepreneurship. One of them is to open up your own business. That is what I did. I submitted the information from the Campus Relations website (www.campusrelations.com) regarding what kind of experience a BM has in their summer and the type of skills that are gained and then I got approved. Q. What advice would you give to someone looking into credit? A. To be well acquainted with the Campus Relations website and to use the Campus Relations Manager to help them get the credit. Q. What is one thing you would make sure to mention to convince the advisor to grant you credit? A. That this is an entrepreneurial experience that teaches people how to be self-employed and run their own businesses. In my case (since I was getting 15 credits to run an office), I had to let them know that Vector Marketing was not a multilevel marketing (MLM) company, and that there were no pyramid schemes involved. My faculty advisor saw my experience running an office very similar to opening up a franchise. Q. What were a few benefits of the credit? How is it helping you in your work? A. It allowed me to hold myself accountable even more. I knew I had to perform well in order to prove all the skepticism wrong. Overall, the experience was a strong benefit to my resume and to me personally. |
